Here are some easy & quick answers to some of the more frequently asked questions at Anchorage Yacht Rentals.

What's included with the rentals?

You get full use of the vessel you have rented. All safety equipment, including life jackets, are included. You pay for the fuel you use.

What are the requirements?
  1. Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 must have:
    • A Temporary Boating Certificate Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. You can obtain the certificate online at
    • A Boating Safety Education identification card issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
  2. Renter must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years old.
  3. Renter must sign a contract and each passenger must sign a liability waiver. Any passenger under the age of 18 years old must have a waiver signed by their legal guardian (not just an adult).
What do I need to rent a boat?

We take payment info at the time the reservation is made. You must be at least 21 years old with a valid photo ID and a major credit card to rent a boat on your own.

Do your prices change seasonally or on the holidays?

Rates are subject to change and holiday rates do apply. Rates do not change seasonally but ask us about our specials.

How old do you need to be to drive a boat by myself?

21. You must also have a valid photo ID showing your birthday and a major credit card.

Do you offer the test to get my boaters license?

No. To get your temporary boaters safety certificate, follow this link to complete the online exam. There are 2 options. $3 for one chance to pass with no study material or $9.99 to receive study material and unlimited chances to pass. This must be completed prior to your rental day and the printed certificate must be with you on the boat along with photo ID. This rental exam is valid for 90 days.

What is the minimum age to take this online course?

There is no minimum age requirement to take this online course.

How much does it cost to get my Florida Temporary Boating Certificate?

The total cost is $9.99. This includes $3.00 for the exam fee and $6.99 for access to study material and unlimited exam attempts.

How old do you need to be to rent a boat by myself?

18. You must also have a valid photo ID showing your birthday and a major credit card.

Do you offer rental insurance?

No. The person who rents the boat is responsible financially for all damages caused by his or her negligence.

Do I have to pay for gas?

Yes. Each boat leaves the dock with a full tank of fuel. You are responsible for the fuel you burn while renting the boat. Fuel consumption is greatly impacted by how aggressively the boat is operated so we suggest driving conservatively.

Are pets allowed on the boat?

Unfortunately no. Animals that are not accustomed to being on a boat can be unpredictable and their behavior can be a distraction to the vessel operator.

Where can we go with your boats?

No boats are allowed in the ocean so you must stay inside the lagoon. Do not pass Sebastian Inlet Bridge. Boats can go as far South as Sebastian Inlet (but not outside the Inlet!!) and as far North as the 520 causeway in both the Banana and Indian Rivers. We also recommend if you do not know the waters well, follow the markers and stay inside the channels at all times.

Do you offer boat rentals over night?

No, is our typical answer. Feel free to call and ask about your particular situation.

How do we know where to go and what to do?

We provide you with a customized map of the area to help navigate the waters with tons of things to do and places to go. In addition we go over basic rules and regulations as well as how to operate the boat. Our boats do not have GPS navigation.

Do your boats have restrooms?

No. We can suggest places to stop that provide restrooms to the public.

Do I need to make a reservation for a boat rental?

We suggest you make a reservation to get the day and time of your liking. You can also call before you come to check availability.

How much time or notice do I need to make a reservation for a boat?

We suggest you give us as much time as possible to get the day and time of your liking. Weekends do tend to be the busiest.

Do your prices change seasonally or on the holidays?

Rates are subject to change and holiday rates do apply as well as nonrefundable deposits on select holiday weekends. Rates do not change seasonally but ask us about our specials.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel or change your reservation more than 48 hours prior to your reservation you will not be penalized. If you do not show up for your reservation or if you cancel within 48 hours prior to the reservation time you will not be eligible for any refund.

Holiday Cancellation Policy

If you have made a reservation on one of our designated holidays or holiday weekends, this is a non-refundable purchase. If the weather is not cooperative on the day of your reservation, you can reschedule or we can issue you a gift card for the amount paid.

What happens if it rains while we are out on the boat?

Our rain policy is; If you get at least half your time in (for example: at least 2 out of 4 hours) We do not refund any money.

If you get in less than half of your time, we will give a gift certificate for the remainder of time that you missed. Keep in mind, we cannot control the weather so use your best judgment when making your plans.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my reservation?

You do not have to go and you will not lose your money. You can reschedule your reservation, we can give you a refund or a gift card to use at another time.

What are your hours?

We are open 7 days a week from 9:00am – 4pm.
Daylight savings time does apply and these times will change
Boats are returned at no later than 4:15pm.

Do you have life jackets (PFD's) for the kids?

Yes, although we suggest bringing your own that your child is used to. We provide life jackets for children under 90 lbs. All adults jackets (90 lbs and over) are on the boats. There are 3 weight classes for children’s life jackets. Infant 0-30 lbs, Toddlers 30-50 lbs and children 50-90 lbs. Florida State law requires children under 6 years of age must wear a PFD at all times while the boat is underway. (“Underway” means any time except when the vessel is anchored, moored,docked, or aground.)

If I'm old enough and I have my boaters license but I left it at home, can I still drive a boat?

No. You must have your valid certificate with you along with your photo ID that shows your birthday. And no, we cannot look up your certificate. There are many different agencies who offer the boater safety exams.

Do you offer memberships?

Yes. We have a 5 & 10 rental Beachside Boat Club program. Visit our Beach Side Boat Club section for more details or ask a staff member about all the perks with becoming a VIP member.

Do you hold a deposit on my credit card?

We do not hold any deposit amount on your card but we may check for funds available of $1000.
